Oh, if only I had got there five minutes earlier!!
As many of you know I've been flying at this spot called Monarch with my drone, working on getting a shot of two trains passing here at the same time from the air. Well, it would have happened today if I had arrived five minutes earlier, which would have given me time to get airborne and in position!
This shot is of CSX Railtrain J055 as it passes under the Paducah and Louisville Railway (PAL) at Monarch on the Henderson Subdivision as a Louisville Gas & Electric coal (LGE) train heads north on the PAL above, on March 30th, 2021 at Madisonville, Ky.
I was chasing the rail train north after it made its last drop of rail for the day at Nortonville, Ky. As I got to Earlington, which is about 3 miles from Monarch, I heard that the LGE train was departing West Yard! I finally thought, alright I'm going to get my shot!! However, traffic had other plans of course!
